Liftgate Adjustment

Standard clearance 

1. 5.0-7.0 mm {0.20-0.27 in}
2. -2.8- -0.9 mm {-0.11- -0.04 in}

• If the measured value exceeds the standard clearance, adjust the gap and height difference using the following procedure.

1. Loosen the liftgate hinge installation bolts and adjust the gap and height difference by moving the liftgate. (See LIFTGATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
2. Tighten the liftgate hinge installation bolts. (See LIFTGATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
3. Verify that the gap between the liftgate and the roof panel and the measurement value of the height difference are within the standards.

Standard clearance 

1. 3.6-7.6 mm {0.15-0.29 in}
2. -2.0-2.0 mm {-0.078-0.078 in}

• If the measured value exceeds the standard clearance, adjust the gap and height difference using the following procedure.

1. Loosen the liftgate hinge installation bolts and adjust the gap and height difference by moving the liftgate. (See LIFTGATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
2. Tighten the liftgate hinge installation bolts. (See LIFTGATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
3. Verify that the gap between the liftgate and the rear fender panel and the measurement value of the height difference are within the standards.
4. Verify that the liftgate opens/closes smoothly.
   • If the liftgate does not open/close smoothly, adjust the liftgate lock striker position by loosening the liftgate lock striker installation bolts. (See DOOR LOCK STRIKER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)

Standard clearance (With power liftgate (PLG)) 

1. 3.5-7.5 mm {0.14-0.29 in}

Standard clearance (Without power liftgate (PLG))

1. 4.0-8.0 mm {0.16-0.31 in}

• If the measured value exceeds the standard clearance, adjust the gap and height difference using the following procedure.

1. Loosen the liftgate hinge installation bolts and adjust the gap and height difference by moving the liftgate. (See LIFTGATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
2. Tighten the liftgate hinge installation bolts. (See LIFTGATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
3. Verify that the gap between the liftgate and the rear bumper and the measurement value of the height difference are within the standards.
