Determination Procedure

CAUTION:
  • When disconnecting the connector, verify that there is no looseness, damage, deformation, corrosion, or poor connection of the connector terminals.
  • When inspecting the DLC-2, touch it with a paper clip or similar thin pin without directly inserting a tester into the terminals.
Step Inspection Action
1 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN FRONT BODY CONTROL MODULE (FBCM) AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  • Disconnect connector 2 which has front body control module (FBCM) terminals 2P and 2N.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DLC-2 terminal F and body ground
      • Between DLC-2 terminal E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to Step 11.
No Go to the next step.
2 INSPECT CAN LINE IN FRONT BODY CONTROL MODULE (FBCM) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between front body control module (FBCM) terminal 2P and body ground
      • Between front body control module (FBCM) terminal 2N and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Replace the front body control module (FBCM) because there is a short to ground in the front body control module (FBCM).

No Go to the next step.
3 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN FRONT BODY CONTROL MODULE (FBCM) AND CONNECTOR C-01
  • Disconnect connector C-01.
  • Connect connector 2 which has front body control module (FBCM) terminals 2P and 2N.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DLC-2 terminal F and body ground
      • Between DLC-2 terminal E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the front body control module (FBCM) and connector C-01 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Go to the next step.
4 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-01 AND TCM
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between TCM terminal E and body ground
      • Between TCM terminal F and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 6.
5 INSPECT CAN LINE IN TCM FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the TCM connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between TCM terminal E (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between TCM terminal F (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the TCM and connector C-01 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the TCM because there is a short to ground in the TCM.

6 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-53 AND CONNECTOR C-01
  • Disconnect connector C-53.
  • Connect connector C-01.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DLC-2 terminal F and body ground
      • Between DLC-2 terminal E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-53 and connector C-01 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Go to the next step.
7 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN DSC HU/CM AND CONNECTOR C-53
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DSC HU/CM terminal AF and body ground
      • Between DSC HU/CM terminal AC and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 9.
8 INSPECT CAN LINE IN DSC HU/CM FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the DSC HU/CM connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DSC HU/CM terminal AF (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between DSC HU/CM terminal AC (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the DSC HU/CM and connector C-53 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the DSC HU/CM because there is a short to ground in the DSC HU/CM.

9 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN RADAR UNIT AND CONNECTOR C-53
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between radar unit terminal D and body ground
      • Between radar unit terminal C and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 50.
10 INSPECT CAN LINE IN RADAR UNIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the radar unit connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between radar unit terminal D (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between radar unit terminal C (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the radar unit and connector C-53 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the radar unit because there is a short to ground in the radar unit.

11 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTORS C-55, C-54 AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
  • Disconnect connectors C-55, C-54.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DLC-2 terminal F and body ground
      • Between DLC-2 terminal E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to Step 14.
No Go to the next step.
12 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTORS C-55, C-54 AND ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM (AFS) CONTROL MODULE/AUTO LEVELING CONTROL MODULE
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between adaptive front lighting system (AFS) control module/auto leveling control module terminal A and body ground
      • Between adaptive front lighting system (AFS) control module/auto leveling control module terminal B and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between the front body control module (FBCM) and connectors C-55, C-54 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
13 INSPECT CAN LINE IN ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM (AFS) CONTROL MODULE/AUTO LEVELING CONTROL MODULE FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the adaptive front lighting system (AFS) control module/auto leveling control module connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between adaptive front lighting system (AFS) control module/auto leveling control module terminal A (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between adaptive front lighting system (AFS) control module/auto leveling control module terminal B (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the adaptive front lighting system (AFS) control module/auto leveling control module and connectors C-55, C-54 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the adaptive front lighting system (AFS) control module/auto leveling control module because there is a short to ground in the adaptive front lighting system (AFS) control module/auto leveling control module.

14 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-08 AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
  • Disconnect connector C-08.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DLC-2 terminal F and body ground
      • Between DLC-2 terminal E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-08 and connectors C-55, C-54 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
15 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-24 AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
  • Disconnect connector C-24.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DLC-2 terminal F and body ground
      • Between DLC-2 terminal E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to Step 19.
No Go to the next step.
16 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) CONTROL MODULE AND CONNECTOR C-24
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between power liftgate (PLG) control module terminal 1B and body ground
      • Between power liftgate (PLG) control module terminal 1A and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-08 and connector C-24 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
17 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) CONTROL MODULE AND CONNECTOR C-74
  • Disconnect connector C-74.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between power liftgate (PLG) control module terminal 1B and body ground
      • Between power liftgate (PLG) control module terminal 1A and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-24 and connector C-74 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
18 INSPECT CAN LINE IN POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) CONTROL MODULE FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the power liftgate (PLG) control module connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between power liftgate (PLG) control module terminal 1B (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between power liftgate (PLG) control module terminal 1A (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the power liftgate (PLG) control module and connector C-74 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the power liftgate (PLG) control module because there is a short to ground in the power liftgate (PLG) control module.

19 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-71 AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
  • Disconnect connector C-71.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DLC-2 terminal F and body ground
      • Between DLC-2 terminal E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to Step 26.
No Go to the next step.
20 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN AUDIO AMPLIFIER AND CONNECTOR C-71
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between audio amplifier terminal 2L and body ground
      • Between audio amplifier terminal 2N and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 22.
21 INSPECT CAN LINE IN AUDIO AMPLIFIER FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the audio amplifier connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between audio amplifier terminal 2L (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between audio amplifier terminal 2N (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the audio amplifier and connector C-71 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the audio amplifier because there is a short to ground in the audio amplifier.

22 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE CONTROL MODULE AND CONNECTOR C-71
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between electric parking brake control module terminal 2G and body ground
      • Between electric parking brake control module terminal 2F and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 24.
23 INSPECT CAN LINE IN ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE CONTROL MODULE FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the electric parking brake control module connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between electric parking brake control module terminal 2G (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between electric parking brake control module terminal 2F (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the electric parking brake control module and connector C-71 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the electric parking brake control module because there is a short to ground in the electric parking brake control module.

24 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN AWD CONTROL MODULE AND CONNECTOR C-71
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between AWD control module terminal G and body ground
      • Between AWD control module terminal H and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-24 and connector C-71 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
25 INSPECT CAN LINE IN AWD CONTROL MODULE FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the AWD control module connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between AWD control module terminal G (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between AWD control module terminal H (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the AWD control module and connector C-71 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the AWD control module because there is a short to ground in the AWD control module.

26 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTORS C-72, C-73 AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
  • Disconnect connectors C-72, C-73.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DLC-2 terminal F and body ground
      • Between DLC-2 terminal E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to Step 32.
No Go to the next step.
27 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR AND CONNECTORS C-72, C-73
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between occupant classification sensor terminal 3D and body ground
      • Between occupant classification sensor terminal 3C and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 29.
28 INSPECT CAN LINE IN OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the occupant classification sensor connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between occupant classification sensor terminal 3D (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between occupant classification sensor terminal 3C (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the occupant classification sensor and connectors C-72, C-73 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the occupant classification sensor because there is a short to ground in the occupant classification sensor.

29 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN POSITION MEMORY CONTROL MODULE AND CONNECTORS C-72, C-73
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between position memory control module terminal 1C and body ground
      • Between position memory control module terminal 1E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between connectors C-72, C-73 and connector C-71 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
30 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN POSITION MEMORY CONTROL MODULE AND CONNECTOR C-31
  • Disconnect connector C-31.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between position memory control module terminal 1C and body ground
      • Between position memory control module terminal 1E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between connectors C-72, C-73 and connector C-31 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
31 INSPECT CAN LINE IN POSITION MEMORY CONTROL MODULE FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the position memory control module connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between position memory control module terminal 1C (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between position memory control module terminal 1E (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the position memory control module and connector C-31 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the position memory control module because there is a short to ground in the position memory control module.

32 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-16 AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
  • Disconnect connector C-16.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DLC-2 terminal F and body ground
      • Between DLC-2 terminal E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-16 and connectors C-72, C-73 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
33 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-19 AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
  • Disconnect connector C-19.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DLC-2 terminal F and body ground
      • Between DLC-2 terminal E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to Step 36.
No Go to the next step.
34 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) AND CONNECTOR C-19
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between forward sensing camera (FSC) terminal M and body ground
      • Between forward sensing camera (FSC) terminal N and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-16 and connector C-19 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
35 INSPECT CAN LINE IN FORWARD SENSING CAMERA (FSC) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the forward sensing camera (FSC) connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between forward sensing camera (FSC) terminal M (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between forward sensing camera (FSC) terminal N (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the forward sensing camera (FSC) and connector C-19 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the forward sensing camera (FSC) because there is a short to ground in the forward sensing camera (FSC).

36 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-64 AND DLC-2
  • Disconnect connector C-64.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DLC-2 terminal F and body ground
      • Between DLC-2 terminal E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-64 and DLC-2 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Go to the next step.
37 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN START STOP UNIT AND CONNECTOR C-64
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between start stop unit terminal 2M and body ground
      • Between start stop unit terminal 2O and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 39.
38 INSPECT CAN LINE IN START STOP UNIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the start stop unit connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between start stop unit terminal 2M (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between start stop unit terminal 2O (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the start stop unit and connector C-64 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the start stop unit because there is a short to ground in the start stop unit.

39 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN EPS CONTROL MODULE AND CONNECTOR C-64
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between EPS control module terminal 2B and body ground
      • Between EPS control module terminal 2D and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 41.
40 INSPECT CAN LINE IN EPS CONTROL MODULE FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the EPS control module connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between EPS control module terminal 2B (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between EPS control module terminal 2D (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the EPS control module and connector C-64 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the EPS control module because there is a short to ground in the EPS control module.

41 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-64 AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between instrument cluster terminal B and body ground
      • Between instrument cluster terminal D and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-19 and connector C-64 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
42 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-64 AND CONNECTOR C-63
  • Disconnect connector C-63.
  • Connect connector C-64.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DLC-2 terminal F and body ground
      • Between DLC-2 terminal E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-64 and connector C-63 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Go to the next step.
43 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN SAS CONTROL MODULE AND CONNECTOR C-63
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between SAS control module terminal 3Q and body ground
      • Between SAS control module terminal 3S and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 45.
44 INSPECT CAN LINE IN SAS CONTROL MODULE FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the SAS control module connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between SAS control module terminal 3Q (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between SAS control module terminal 3S (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the SAS control module and connector C-63 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the SAS control module because there is a short to ground in the SAS control module.

45 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN CONNECTIVITY MASTER UNIT (CMU) AND CONNECTOR C-63
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between connectivity master unit (CMU) terminal 2E and body ground
      • Between connectivity master unit (CMU) terminal 2F and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 47.
46 INSPECT CAN LINE IN CONNECTIVITY MASTER UNIT (CMU) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the connectivity master unit (CMU) connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between connectivity master unit (CMU) terminal 2E (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between connectivity master unit (CMU) terminal 2F (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the connectivity master unit (CMU) and connector C-63 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the connectivity master unit (CMU) because there is a short to ground in the connectivity master unit (CMU).

47 INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND BETWEEN ACTIVE DRIVING DISPLAY AND CONNECTOR C-63
  • Disconnect the active driving display connector.
  • Connect connector C-63.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between DLC-2 terminal F and body ground
      • Between DLC-2 terminal E and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the active driving display and connector C-63 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Go to the next step.
48 INSPECT CAN LINE IN ACTIVE DRIVING DISPLAY FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between active driving display terminal I and body ground
      • Between active driving display terminal K and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Replace the active driving display because there is a short to ground in the active driving display.

No Go to the next step.
49 INSPECT CAN LINE IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between instrument cluster terminal B (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between instrument cluster terminal D (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the instrument cluster and active driving display because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the instrument cluster because there is a short to ground in the instrument cluster.

50 INSPECT CAN LINE IN PCM FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect the PCM connector.
  • Inspect for continuity at the following terminals:
    • Between PCM terminal 2AK (wiring harness side) and body ground
      • Between PCM terminal 2AL (wiring harness side) and body ground
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the PCM and connector C-53 because the wiring harness is shorted to ground.
No Replace the PCM because there is a short to ground in the PCM.
