No Repair or replace the ATF level.
(See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT .)
NOTE:
  • If the ATF level is less than the specified value, add ATF and go to the next step.
2 VERIFY IF ATF SEEPING CAUSE IS FROM O-RING
  • Is the ATF seeping location in the following part installation areas?
    • VSS
    • Input/turbine speed sensor
    • Oil filler tube
    • End cover
    • Parking rod lever component
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 4.
3 INSPECT PART INSTALLATION CONDITION FOR MALFUNCTION
  • Verify the part installation condition.
  • Is there any installation bolt loosening or incorrect installation (Bolt is not seated to installation surface correctly)?
Yes Installation bolt looseness:
  • Tighten the bolt to the specified tightening torque.

Incorrect installation:
  • Replace the O-ring and install the parts correctly.

(See Automatic Transaxle Workshop Manual FS5A-EL.)

No Replace the O-ring.
(See Automatic Transaxle Workshop Manual FS5A-EL.)
4 VERIFY IF ATF SEEPING CAUSE IS FROM WASHER
  • Is the ATF seeping location in the following part installation areas?
  • Oil pressure switch
  • Connector pipe
  • Connector bolt
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 7.
5 INSPECT PART INSTALLATION CONDITION FOR MALFUNCTION
  • Verify the part installation condition.
  • Is there any installation bolt loosening or incorrect installation (Bolt is not seated to installation surface correctly)?
Yes Installation bolt looseness:
  • Tighten the bolt to the specified tightening torque.

Incorrect installation:

  • Replace the washer and install the parts correctly.

(See Automatic Transaxle Workshop Manual FS5A-EL.)

No Replace the washer.
(See Automatic Transaxle Workshop Manual FS5A-EL.)
6 VERIFY IF ATF SEEPING CAUSE IS FROM OIL SEAL
  • Is the ATF seeping location in the drive shaft oil seal?
Yes Inspect the drive shaft (runout, damage on contact surfaces of drive shaft and oil seal).
Repair the malfunctioning location, and then replace the oil seal.

(See OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT .)

(See Automatic Transaxle Workshop Manual FS5A-EL.)
No Go to the next step.
7 VERIFY IF ATF SEEPING CAUSE IS FROM SILICONE SEALANT
  • Is the ATF seeping location in the following part installation areas?
  • Oil pan
  • End cover
  • Mating surfaces of transaxle case and converter housing
Yes Verify that there is no ATF seeping into the transaxle case around the seepage location.
  • If leakage from the transaxle case is verified, replace the transaxle case.

(See Automatic Transaxle Workshop Manual FS5A-EL.)

  • If leakage from the transaxle case is not verified, re-apply the silicone sealant.

(See CONTROL VALVE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)

(See Automatic Transaxle Workshop Manual FS5A-EL.)

No Go to the next step.
8 VERIFY IF ATF SEEPING CAUSE IS FROM CONVERTER HOUSING OR ENGINE
  • Is the ATF seeping location in mating surfaces of the converter housing and engine?
Yes Inspect the following:
  • Oil seal (torque converter)
  • O-ring (oil pump)

Repair the malfunctioning location.
(See Automatic Transaxle Workshop Manual FS5A-EL.)
No Inspect the transaxle case for fissures or pin holes.
  • If there is a malfunction, replace the transaxle case.
