| POSSIBLE CAUSE |
- M position switch (built-in selector lever component), instrument cluster, or related wiring harness malfunction
NOTE:
- Before following the troubleshooting steps, make sure that the Automatic Transaxle On-Board Diagnostic and Automatic Transaxle Basic Inspection are conducted. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC INSPECTION -- AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE
.) (See BASIC INSPECTION .)
- If the ATF temperature reaches 130 °C {266 °F} or more
while driving in manual shift mode, the shift position indicator light turns off and the TCM switches to automatic shift mode to reduce load on the ATX. After the ATF temperature decreases to 120 °C {248 °F} or less
and a period of time has passed, the shift position indicator light turns back on and driving in manual shift mode is restored.
