Diagnostic Procedure

STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY 
  • Verify related Service Bulletins and/or on-line repair information availability.
  • Is any related repair information available?
Yes Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.
  • If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No Go to the next step.
2 VERIFY MALFUNCTION SYMPTOM 
  • Has the customer indicated that there is a lack of power?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 4.
3 VERIFY THAT VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN ON MUD OR SLIPPERY ROAD 
  • Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
  • Verify the following monitoring value using the PID/data monitor function.
    • DGP_DIS_1 (traveled distance since last recording of DTC P1712:00)
  • Verify with the customer if the vehicle had been driven on a muddy or slippery road at the traveled distance indicated by the above monitoring value.
  • Has the customer driven on a muddy or slippery road?
Yes Explain to the customer that the torque reduction control operates to prevent the differential journal from burning or seizure, however, this does not indicate a malfunction.
After explanation, go to the next step.
No Verify that the cause of the lack of power is engine-related.

After inspection, go to the next step.
4 VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT  Yes Go to the applicable DTC inspection
(See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC TABLE .)
No Go to the next step.
5 CLEAR DTC P1712:00  Yes Repeat Step 5.
No DTC troubleshooting completed.
