Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mazda Tribute, 2003 Mazda Tribute, and 2002 Mazda Tribute. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch. See BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH  .
  2. If equipped, remove the cruise control deactivator switch. See SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATOR SWITCH  .
  3. Disconnect the push rod from the brake pedal pin. See Fig 1 . Remove the cotter pin and bushing.
  4. Remove the brake pedal and bracket. Remove the nuts. See Fig 2 .
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten all fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
