Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Mazda Millenia. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CKP sensor is located on front of engine, near crankshaft pulley. Disconnect CKP sensor connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between terminals "A" and "B" at CKP sensor. See Fig 1 . Resistance should be as specified. See CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR RESISTANCE  table.
  2. If resistance is not as specified, replace CKP sensor. When installing CKP sensor, adjust air gap to .040-.080" (1-2 mm).
