Removal & Installation (MPV)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2003 Mazda Tribute, 2003 Mazda Protege5, 2003 Mazda Protege, 2003 Mazda MX-5 Miata, and 2003 Mazda MPV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

CAUTION: Do not forcefully pull the wiring harness of the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor. Doing so will break the harness.

CAUTION: When foreign material such as an iron chip is on the CMP sensor, it can cause abnormal output from the sensor because of flux turbulence and adversely affect the engine control. Be sure there is no foreign material on the CMP sensor when replacing.

Disconnect the CMP sensor connector. See Fig 1.
Remove the CMP sensor installation bolt.
Remove the CMP sensor.
To install, reverse removal procedure. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
