Removal & Installation (Tribute)

DO NOT smoke or carry an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited, resulting in possible personal injury. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
The evaporative emission system contains fuel vapor and condensed fuel vapor. Although not present in large quantities, it still presents the danger of explosion or fire. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery to minimize the possibility of an electrical spark occurring, possibly causing a fire or explosion if fuel vapor or fuel liquid is present in the area. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
- Disconnect the battery.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Disconnect the Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) canister outlet tube. See Fig 1.
- Disconnect the canister vent solenoid harness connector and the remote canister vent hose. See Fig 2.
- Remove the EVAP canister bracket assembly. See Fig 3.
- Remove the remote canister vent hose, dust separator and canister vent solenoid. See Fig 4.
- Remove the EVAP canister outlet tube. See Fig 5.
- Remove the EVAP canister. See Fig 6.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Lubricate all "O" ring seals with MERPOL® "O" Ring Seal Lubricant. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Check for leaks and carry out the evaporative emission repair verification drive cycle. See DRIVE CYCLES in appropriate SELF DIAGNOSTICS article.
