Stopper Pin

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the timing belt. (See TIMING BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Hold a hexagonal part of the intake camshaft with an adjustable wrench to prevent the camshaft from rotating. Attempt to rotate the variable timing actuator by hand and verify that it does not move.

- If the variable valve timing actuator moves, the stopper pin in the variable valve timing actuator is not operating. Replace the variable valve timing actuator.
- Install in the timing belt. (See TIMING BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
