Diagnostic procedure

TRANSAXLE OVERHEATS - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	Is line pressure okay? (See LINE PRESSURE TEST .)	Yes	Go to the next step.
1	Is line pressure okay? (See LINE PRESSURE TEST .)	No	Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to inspection results.
2	Is stall speed okay? (See STALL SPEED TEST .)	Yes	Go to the next step.
2	Is stall speed okay? (See STALL SPEED TEST .)	No	Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to inspection results.
3	Inspect TFT sensor and related harness: vibration, intermittent open/short circuit Is it okay?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Repair or replace part if necessary.
4	Inspect pressure control solenoid circuit. Is it okay?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4	Inspect pressure control solenoid circuit. Is it okay?	No	Inspect for stuck pressure control solenoid. (See SOLENOID VALVE INSPECTION .)
5	Inspect for bend, damage, corrosion or kinks of oil cooler pipes. Are oil cooler pipes okay?	Yes	Overhaul control valve body and repair or replace any malfunctioning parts. (See appropriate Automatic Transmission article.) If problem remains, replace or overhaul transaxle and repair or replace any malfunctioning parts. (See appropriate Automatic Transmission article.)
5		No	Replace any malfunctioning parts.
6	Verify test results. If okay, return to DIAGNOSTIC INDEX to service any additional symptoms. If malfunction remains, inspect related Service Bulletins and/or On-line Repair Information and perform repair or diagnosis. If vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting completed. If vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information not available, replace TCM.
