Off-Vehicle Inspection

WARNING:
- A hot transaxle and ATF can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before replacing the ATF.
CAUTION:
- Water or foreign material entering the connector can cause a poor connection or corrosion. Be sure not to allow water or foreign material on the connector when disconnecting.
- Do not damage the terminals.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the air cleaner component and air cleaner bracket. (See INTAKE AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Place the heater pipe out of the way.
- Remove the under cover.
- Drain the ATF. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT .)
- Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT .)
- Disconnect the lower radiator hose and place the lower radiator hose out of the way.
- Remove the oil hose, oil pipe and O-ring. (See OIL COOLER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the front crossmember. (See FRONT CROSSMEMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the control valve body. (See ON-VEHICLE REMOVAL .)
- Remove the TFT sensor. (See TRANSAXLE FLUID TEMPERATURE (TFT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Place the TFT sensor and a thermometer in ATF as shown in the figure, and heat the ATF gradually.
- Measure the resistance between the coupler component terminals B7and B8.
- If there is any malfunction, replace the TFT sensor. (See
TRANSAXLE FLUID TEMPERATURE (TFT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)

- If there is any malfunction, replace the TFT sensor. (See
TRANSAXLE FLUID TEMPERATURE (TFT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Install the TFT sensor. (See TRANSAXLE FLUID TEMPERATURE (TFT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Install the control valve body. (See ON-VEHICLE INSTALLATION .)
- Apply ATF to a new O-ring and install it on the oil pipe.
- Install the oil pipe and oil hose. (See OIL COOLER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Connect the lower radiator hose.
- Add the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT .)
- Add ATF to the specified level. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT .)
- Install the front crossmember. (See FRONT CROSSMEMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Install the under cover.
- Install the air cleaner component and air cleaner bracket. (See INTAKE AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Connect the negative battery cable.
