Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Removal/Installation

WARNING:
  • A hot transaxle and ATF can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until then are cool before replacing the ATF.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner component and air cleaner bracket. (See INTAKE AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. Place the heater pipe out of the way.
  4. Remove the under cover.
  5. Drain the ATF. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT .)
  6. Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT .)
  7. Disconnect the lower radiator hose and place the lower radiator hose out of the way.
  8. Remove the oil hose, oil pipe and O-ring. (See OIL COOLER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  9. Remove the front crossmember. (See FRONT CROSSMEMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  10. Remove the control valve body. (See ON-VEHICLE REMOVAL .)
    CAUTION:
    • Do not damage the input/turbine speed sensor.
  11. Remove the input/turbine speed sensor.

  12. Install the input/turbine speed sensor.

    Tightening torque 

    3.9-6.9 N.m {40-70 kgf.cm, 26-60 in.lbf} 

  13. Install the control valve body. (See ON-VEHICLE INSTALLATION .)
  14. Apply ATF to a new O-ring and install it on the oil pipe.
  15. Install the oil pipe and oil hose. (See OIL COOLER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  16. Connect the lower radiator hose.
  17. Add the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT .)
  18. Add ATF to the specified level. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT .)
  19. Install the front crossmember. (See FRONT CROSSMEMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  20. Install the under cover.
  21. Install the air cleaner component and air cleaner bracket. (See INTAKE AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  22. Perform the mechanical system test. (See MECHANICAL SYSTEM TEST .)
