Removal and Installation

  1. Drain the engine coolant. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING for 2.0L engine or COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING for 3.0L (4V) engine.

  2. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
  3. Remove the instrument panel. For additional information, refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL .
  4. If equipped with A/C, remove the A/C evaporator core housing. For additional information, refer to EVAPORATOR CORE HOUSING  .

  5. Remove the heater core housing.
    1. Remove the heater core housing retaining nuts.
    2. Carefully remove the heater core housing to avoid spilling engine coolant in the passenger area.
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
