Charge Air Cooler By-Pass (CACBYP) System Inspection

  1. Connect NGS scan tool to DLC-2. Start engine and verify CACBYP actuator rod is retracted. See Figure .
  2. Select SIMULATION TEST function. Select CACBYP. Using SIMULATION TEST function, turn off CACBYP and ensure actuator rod returns. If actuator rod operation is not as specified, turn ignition switch off. Go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch on. Using SIMULATION TEST function, ensure operation sound of CACBYP solenoid valve. If operation sound of CACBYP solenoid valve is not heard, inspect CACBYP solenoid valve. See CHARGE AIR COOLER BY-PASS (CACBYP) SOLENOID VALVE  . If operation sound of CACBYP solenoid valve is heard, check following:
    • Vacuum hose damaged or loose.
    • Vacuum pump.
    • Damaged actuator diaphragm.
    • Sticking shutter valve.

    Repair as necessary.
