Oil Seal Replacement

Remove the engine cover.
(See ENGINE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the battery cover.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Clean the transmission exterior thoroughly using a steam cleaner or cleaning solvent.
Drain the ATF. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT .)
Remove the following parts.
1. Front tunnel member
2. Rear tunnel member
3. Catalytic converter, middle pipe, main silencer (See EXHAUST SYSTEM .)
4. Heat insulator
5. Propeller shaft (See PROPELLER SHAFT .
CAUTION:
- Do not scratch or damage the extension housing and output shaft.
Remove the oil seal using a flat head screwdriver.

Using the SST and a hammer, tap the new oil seal in evenly until the SST contacts the extension housing.

Coat the lip of the oil seal with ATF.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
Add ATF and, with the engine idling, inspect the ATF level and inspect for leakage. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT and AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) LEVEL INSPECTION .)
