Hydraulic Lash Adjuster (HLA) Removal/Installation: Notes

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the splash shield (RH).
  3. Remove the dynamic chamber. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT .)
  5. Remove the ignition coils. (See IGNITION COIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  6. Remove the water pump drive belt. (See WATER PUMP DRIVE BELT .)
  7. Remove the water pump drive belt pulley. (See WATER PUMP DRIVE BELT PULLEY REMOVAL NOTE .) (See WATER PUMP DRIVE BELT PULLEY INSTALLATION NOTE .)
  8. Remove the camshaft oil seal. (See CAMSHAFT OIL SEAL NOTE .) (See CAMSHAFT OIL SEAL INSTALLATION Note .)
  9. Remove the camshaft oil seal housing.
  10. Remove in the order indicated in the figure.

  11. Install in the reverse order or removal.
