Cylinder Head: Camshaft

Measure camshaft intake and exhaust lobe height. Measure camshaft journal diameters at 2 points on each journal, and at same points at a 90-degree angle, for a total of 4 measurements on each journal. Check oil clearance using Plastigage method. Replace camshaft if not within specification. See CAMSHAFT under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS. Check camshaft end play. If end play exceeds specification, replace camshaft or cylinder head, as necessary.
