Test 9: No Operation In Lower Speeds

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Mazda Tribute. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition on. Turn function selector switch to FLOOR position. Cycle blower motor switch from high to low several times. If blower motor operates at high speed, go to next step. If blower motor operates at each speed with switch movement, system is operating properly at this time. If blower motor does not operate at each switch setting, replace blower motor switch. Recheck system operation.
  2. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance of Light Green/White wire between blower motor resistor harness connector G293 terminal No. 4 and blower motor switch harness connector G294b terminal No. 4. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open or high resistance in Light Green/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
  3. Measure resistance of Yellow/Red wire between blower motor resistor harness connector G293 terminal No. 1 and blower motor switch harness connector G294b terminal No. 3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open or high resistance in Yellow/Red wire. Recheck system operation.
  4. Measure resistance between ground and blower motor resistor harness connector G293 terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open or high resistance in Black wire. Recheck system operation.
  5. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between blower motor switch terminals. See BLOWER MOTOR SWITCH CONTINUITY  table. See Figure. If resistances are less than 5 ohms between specified terminals, replace blower motor resistor. Recheck system operation. If resistances are 5 ohms or more, replace blower motor switch. Recheck system operation.
