Test 6: Blower Motor Inoperative Or Does Not Operate Properly

- Turn ignition off. Disconnect blower motor 2-pin harness connector G2066. Measure voltage between ground and blower motor harness connector G2066 Tan/Yellow wire terminal. If more than 10 volts exists, go to next step. If 10 volts or less exists, go to step 3.
- Set blower motor selector switch to HIGH position and function selector switch in heat mode. Measure resistance between ground and blower motor harness connector G2066 Orange/Black wire terminal. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to step 7. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, replace blower motor. Recheck system operation.
- Remove blower motor relay (located behind center of instrument panel). Turn ignition off. Measure resistance of Tan/Yellow wire between blower motor relay socket terminal No. 87 and blower motor harness connector G2066 terminal No. 1. See Figure. Measure resistance between ground and blower motor relay socket terminal No. 87 (Tan/Yellow wire). If resistance between blower motor relay and blower motor is less than 5 ohms, and more than 10 k/ohms between ground and blower motor relay, go to next step. If resistance between blower motor relay and blower motor is 5 ohms or more, and/or 10 k/ohms or less between ground and blower motor relay, repair open or short in Tan/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
- Turn ignition off. Measure voltage between ground and blower motor relay socket terminal No. 30 (Black/Light Green wire). If more than 10 volts exists, go to next step. If 10 volts or less exists, repair open in Black/Light Green wire between blower motor relay and BJB. Recheck system operation.
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and blower motor relay socket terminal No. 86 (Brown/Yellow wire). If more than 10 volts exists, go to next step. If 10 volts or less exists, repair open in Brown/Yellow wire between blower motor relay and function selector switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and blower motor relay socket terminal No. 85 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace blower motor relay. Recheck system operation. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open or high resistance in Black wire. Recheck system operation.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect blower motor resistor 4-pin harness connector G293. Measure resistance between ground and blower motor resistor harness connector G293 terminal No. 3 (Orange/Black wire). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace blower motor resistor. Recheck system operation. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect blower motor switch 4-pin harness connector G294b. Measure resistance of Orange/Black wire between blower motor resistance harness connector G293 terminal No. 3 and blower motor switch harness connector G294b terminal No. 1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open or high resistance in Orange/Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
- Measure resistance between ground and blower motor switch harness connector G294b terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace function selector switch. Recheck system operation. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open or high resistance in Black wire. Recheck system operation.
