Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Remove instrument panel. See INSTRUMENT PANEL  . Disconnect SAS control module electrical connectors. See Fig 1 . Remove SAS control module mounting bolts and SAS module.
  2. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
  3. If NEW SAS control module is installed, perform SAS configuration procedure. See SAS CONFIGURATION PROCEDURE  . After SAS configuration procedure is completed, turn ignition switch to ON position and wait at least 20 seconds.
