Diagnostic Procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	VERIFY NUMBER OF PROGRAMMED KEYS Perform the PID/data monitor inspection using the M-MDS to verify the number of programmed keys. (See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION [IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM] .) NUMKEYS (See PID/DATA MONITOR TABLE [IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM] .) Are eight keys programmed?	Yes	Erase the key ID number, then go to the next step. (See IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM-RELATED PARTS PROGRAMMING .)
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	PERFORM DTC INSPECTION AND VERIFY THAT MALFUNCTIONING PART IS INSTRUMENT CLUSTER Program an additional key referring to the immobilizer system-related parts programming. (See IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM-RELATED PARTS PROGRAMMING .) NOTE: To start the engine, two or more programmed keys are necessary. Clear the DTC using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM] .) Perform the immobilizer system DTC inspection using the M-MDS using the valid key other than the cause of the displayed DTC. (See DTC INSPECTION [IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM] .) Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Replace the instrument cluster, then go to the next step. (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
2		No	Dispose of the malfunctioning key and program a new key if necessary, then go to Step 4. (See IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM-RELATED PARTS PROGRAMMING .)
3	VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED Clear the DTC using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM] .) Perform the immobilizer system DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM] .) Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Replace the PCM, then go to the next step. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5] .)
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM] .)
4		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
