Determination Procedure

CAUTION:
  • When disconnecting the connector, verify that there is no looseness, damage, deformation, corrosion, or poor connection of the connector terminals.
  • When inspecting the DLC-2, touch it with a paper clip or similar thin pin without directly inserting a tester into the terminals.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable before performing any work that requires handling of connectors.
Step Inspection Action
1 INSPECT CAN LINE IN BCM FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Disconnect the all BCM connectors.
  • Connect the negative battery cable.
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at BCM terminals 1A, 1B, 6W, and 6X (wiring harness side).
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Replace the BCM because there is a short to power supply in the BCM.
(See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
No Go to the next step.
2 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN BCM AND DLC-2 FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at DLC-2 terminals E and F.
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Go to Step 8.
No Go to the next step.
3 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-18 AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Disconnect connector C-18.
  • Connect the negative battery cable.
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at DLC-2 terminals E and F.
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the BCM and connector C-18 because the wiring harness is shorted to power supply.
No Go to the next step.
4 INSPECT CAN-RELATED MODULES FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    NOTE:
    • Disconnect the negative battery cable before disconnecting the connectors, and connect the negative battery cable before measuring the terminal voltage.
  • Remove the SAS control module and instrument cluster one by one and measure the voltage at the following terminals:
  • Switch the ignition ON.
    • DLC-2 terminal F
    • DLC-2 terminal E
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Replace the module in which the voltage is between 1.5-3.5 when the module is removed.
No Go to the next step.
5 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN DLC-2 AND CONNECTOR C-47 FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Disconnect connector C-47.
  • Connect the negative battery cable.
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at DLC-2 terminals E and F.
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between DLC-2 and connector C-47 because the wiring harness is shorted to power supply.
6 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND CONNECTOR C-47 FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at instrument cluster terminals B and D (wiring harness side).
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between the instrument cluster and connector C-47 because the wiring harness is shorted to power supply.
7 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN SAS CONTROL MODULE AND CONNECTOR C-47 FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Connect connector C-18.
  • Connect the negative battery cable.
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at BCM terminals 6W and 6X (wiring harness side).
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between SAS control module and connector C-47 because the wiring harness is shorted to power supply.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-18 and connector C-47 because the wiring harness is shorted to power supply.
8 VERIFY NO SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY IN CAN COMMUNICATION WIRING HARNESS 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Disconnect connector C-02.
  • Connect the negative battery cable.
  • Switch the ignition ON.
  • Measure the voltage at BCM terminals 1A and 1B (wiring harness side).
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Go to Step 10.
No Go to the next step.
9 INSPECT CAN-RELATED MODULES FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    NOTE:
    • Disconnect the negative battery cable before disconnecting the connectors, and connect the negative battery cable before measuring the terminal voltage.
  • Remove the EHPAS control module and DSC HU/CM one by one and measure the voltage at the following terminals:
  • Switch the ignition ON.
    • BCM terminal 1A (wiring harness side)
    • BCM terminal 1B (wiring harness side)
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Replace the module in which the voltage is between 1.5-3.5 when the module is removed.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-02 and the BCM because the wiring harness is shorted to power supply.
10 INSPECT CAN-RELATED MODULES FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY 
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    NOTE:
    • Disconnect the negative battery cable before disconnecting the connectors, and connect the negative battery cable before measuring the terminal voltage.
  • Remove the TCM and PCM one by one and measure the voltage at the following terminals:
  • Switch the ignition ON.
    • PCM terminal 1AM (wiring harness side)
    • PCM terminal 1AI (wiring harness side)
  • Is the voltage between 1.5-3.5 V?
Yes Replace the module in which the voltage is between 1.5-3.5 when the module is removed.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between PCM and connector C-02 because the wiring harness is shorted to power supply.
