Determination Procedure

CAUTION:
  • When disconnecting the connector, verify that there is no looseness, damage, deformation, corrosion, or poor connection of the connector terminals.
  • When inspecting the DLC-2, touch it with a paper clip or similar thin pin without directly inserting a tester into the terminals.
Step Inspection Action
1 INSPECT CAN LINE IN BCM FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Disconnect the all BCM connectors.
  • Verify the continuity between BCM terminals 6W and 6X.
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Replace the BCM because there is a short between circuits in the BCM.
(See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
No Go to the next step.
2 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN BCM AND DLC-2 FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
  • Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  • Verify the continuity between DLC-2 terminals E and F.
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 8.
3 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-18 AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUIT
  • Disconnect connector C-18.
  • Verify the continuity between DLC-2 terminals E and F.
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between the BCM and connector C-18 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
4 INSPECT SAS CONTROL MODULE-RELATED MODULES FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
  • Disconnect the SAS control module connector.
  • Verify the continuity between SAS control module terminals 1X and 1T (wiring harness side).
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Replace the SAS control module because there is a short between circuits in the SAS control module.
(See SAS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
5 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN DLC-2 AND CONNECTOR C-47 FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
  • Disconnect connector C-47.
  • Verify the continuity between DLC-2 terminals E and F.
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between DLC-2 and connector C-47 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
No Go to the next step.
6 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN SAS CONTROL MODULE AND CONNECTOR C-47 FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
  • Verify the continuity between SAS control module terminals 1X and 1T (wiring harness side).
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between SAS control module and connector C-47 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
No Go to the next step.
7 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND CONNECTOR C-47 FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
  • Verify the continuity between instrument cluster terminals B and D (wiring harness side).
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between the instrument cluster and connector C-47 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
No Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-18 and connector C-47 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
8 INSPECT CAN LINE BETWEEN BCM AND CONNECTOR C-02 FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
  • Disconnect connector C-02.
  • Verify the continuity between BCM terminals 1A and 1B (wiring harness side).
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 10.
9 INSPECT CAN-RELATED MODULES FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
  • Remove the EHPAS control module and DSC HU/CM one by one and verify the continuity between the following terminals:
    • Between BCM terminals 1A and 1B (wiring harness side)
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-02 and the BCM because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
No Replace the module in which there was no continuity when it was removed.
10 INSPECT CAN-RELATED MODULES FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
  • Disconnect the PCM connector.
  • Disconnect the TCM control module connector.
  • Verify the continuity between TCM control module terminals 1X and 1T (wiring harness side).
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the wiring harness between PCM and connector C-02 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
No Replace the TCM because there is a short between circuits in the TCM.
(See TCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [FS5A-EL] .)
