Diagnostic Procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS UN-EXECUTION OF N POSITION LEARNING PROCEDURE Perform the N position learning. (See TCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Does the problem eliminate?	Yes	Troubleshooting is completed. If the other symptom occurs, go to applicable troubleshooting procedure.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS TR SWITCH OR ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM Inspect the TR switch. (See TRANSAXLE RANGE (TR) SWITCH INSPECTION .) Is the TR switch normal?	Yes	Go to engine system troubleshooting No.3 "WILL NOT CRANK" troubleshooting procedure.
2		No	Replace the TR switch and perform initial learning procedure. (See NO.17 EXCESSIVE SHIFT SHOCK FROM N TO D OR N TO R POSITION .)
3	Verify test results. If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms. If malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Bulletins and/or On-line Repair Information and perform repair or diagnosis. If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting completed. If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the TCM.
