Diagnostic procedure

STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED 
  • Has FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
 Yes Go to the next step
No Record FREEZE FRAME DATA on repair order, then go to the next step
2 VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY 
  • Verify related Service Bulletins and/or on-line repair information availability.
  • Is any related repair information available?
 Yes Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.
  • If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No Go to the next step.
3 VERIFY RELATED PENDING AND STORED DTC 
  • Switch the ignition to off, then to ON (engine off).
  • Verify pending and stored DTCs using the M-MDS.
  • Are any other DTCs present?
 Yes Go to the applicable DTC inspection (See DTC TABLE [L5] .)
No Go to the next step.
4 PERFORM VISUAL INSPECTION 
  • Switch the ignition to off.
  • Visually inspect the following for obvious signs of damage:
    • Throttle body
    • PCM
  • Is a concern present?
 Yes Isolate the concern and repair if necessary, then go to Step 6.
No Go to the next step
5 PERFORM PCM CONFIGURATION 
  • Perform the PCM configuration (See PCM CONFIGURATION [L5] .)
  • Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
  • Retrieve the DTC using the M-MDS
  • Is the same DTC present?
 Yes Perform the PCM configuration again, then go to the next step. (See PCM CONFIGURATION [L5] .)
No Go to the next step.
6 VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED 
  • Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
  • Perform the KOER self test (See KOEO/KOER SELF TEST [L5] .)
  • Is the same DTC present?
 Yes Replace the PCM, then go to the next step. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L5] .)
No Go to the next step.
7 VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE 
 Yes Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [L5] .)
No DTC troubleshooting completed.
