Diagnostic Procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	INSPECT OPERATION OF PAD INDICATOR Switch the ignition to ON Does the PAD indicator illuminate?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Go to Step 7.
2	INSPECT FUSE Remove the METER 15 A fuse Is the fuse normal?	Yes	Install the fuse, then go to the next step.
2		No	Replace the fuse.
3	INSPECT BATTERY Measure the battery positive voltage Is the voltage 8 V-16 V ?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Battery is malfunctioning inspect the charge/discharge system.
4	INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN BATTERY AND PAD INDICATOR Switch the ignition to ON Measure the PAD indicator terminal A voltage Is the voltage 8 V or more ?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Repair the wiring harness between the battery and PAD indicator.
5	INSPECT PAD INDICATOR BULB Switch the ignition to off Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more Remove the PAD indicator bulb (See PASSENGER AIR BAG DEACTIVATION (PAD) INDICATOR LIGHT BULB REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) Verify the PAD indicator bulb capacity (W) Has a PAD indicator bulb with a bulb capacity (W) that is the same as a standard product been installed?	Yes	Go to the next step.
5		No	Replace the bulb with a standard capacity (W) PAD indicator bulb. (See PASSENGER AIR BAG DEACTIVATION (PAD) INDICATOR LIGHT BULB REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) After replacement, go to Step 8.
6	INSPECT PAD INDICATOR Ground PAD indicator connector terminal B using a jumper wire Switch the ignition to ON Does the PAD indicator illuminate?	Yes	Go to the next step.
6		No	Replace the air bag wiring harness
7	INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN PAD INDICATOR AND SAS CONTROL MODULE WARNING: Handling the air bag system components improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag modules and pre-tensioner seat belts, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag system components. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS .) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS .) Switch the ignition to off Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more Disconnect the SAS control module connector Inspect the wiring harness between PAD indicator terminal B and SAS control module terminal 3L for the following Short to ground Open circuit Short circuit between terminals NOTE: Inspect for continuity while shaking the wiring harness between the SAS control module and PAD indicator Is the wiring harness normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
7		No	Replace the air bag wiring harness
8	INSPECT THE WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN THE SAS CONTROL MODULE AND PAD INDICATOR FOR A SHORT CIRCUIT TO THE POWER SUPPLY Connect the negative battery cable Switch the ignition to ON. Measure the voltage of SAS control module connector terminal 3L. NOTE: Measure the voltage while shaking the wiring harness between the SAS control module and PAD indicator Is the voltage measured?	Yes	Replace the air bag wiring harness.
8		No	Go to the next step
9	PERFORM SAS CONTROL MODULE DTC INSPECTION Switch the ignition to off Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more Reconnect the disconnected connectors Connect the negative battery cable Switch the ignition to ON Clear DTCs using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC .) Verify DTCs using the M-MDS (See DTC INSPECTION .) Are DTCs B00D5:11 and/or B00D5:12 displayed	Yes	Replace the SAS control module (See SAS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
9		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
