Tie Rod End - Outer Removal/Installation




TIE ROD END - OUTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Remove the wheel and tire. See Service and Repair.

NOTE:RH side shown, LH side similar.
2. Loosen the tie-rod end jam nut.

- To install, tighten to 40 Nm {4.0 kgf-m, 30 ft-lbf}.

3. Remove and discard the outer tie-rod end nut.

- To install, tighten the new nut to 80 Nm {8.0 kgf-m, 59 ft-lbf}.





4. Using the special tool, separate the outer tie-rod end from the front wheel knuckle.

5. Remove the outer tie-rod end.

6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Check and, if necessary, adjust the front toe. See Front Toe Adjustment.
