PINPOINT TEST 3: THE COURTESY LAMPS DO NOT TURN ON FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DIMMER SWITCH

Normal Operation

The smart junction box (SJB) monitors the instrument panel dimmer switch status from circuit (BR) to determine if the courtesy lamps are requested. When the instrument panel dimmer switch is rotated to the DOME LAMP position, ground is supplied to circuit (BR). When the request is detected, the SJB supplies voltage to the courtesy lamps.

Possible Causes
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Dimmer switch
- SJB

Diagnostic Procedure

CAUTION:Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
NOTE:Make sure the interior lamp switches are in the DOOR position.
