Basic Inspection

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 Measure the battery voltage. Is the battery voltage 10.0-14.0 V? Yes Go to the next step.
No Replace or recharge the battery. (See BATTERY RECHARGING [MZR 2.5] .)
2 Inspect the TCM related harnesses, connectors and fuses. Are they normal? Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
3 Switch the ignition to ON.
When the selector lever is moved, does the gear position indicator light indication correspond to the selector lever position?
Also, when other positions are selected from N or P during idling, does the vehicle move within 1-2 s  ?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Inspect the selector lever and TR switch. Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

If the selector lever and TR switch are normal, go to the next step.
4 Perform the road test.
(See ROAD TEST .)
Is the ATX operating normally?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
5 Inspect the ATF color and condition.
(See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) INSPECTION .)
Are the ATF color and odor normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result. Flush the ATX and cooler line if necessary.
6 Perform the line pressure test.
(See MECHANICAL SYSTEM TEST .)
Is the line pressure normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
7 Perform the stall test.
(See MECHANICAL SYSTEM TEST .)
Is the stall speed normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
8 Perform the time lag test.
(See MECHANICAL SYSTEM TEST .)
Is the time lag within the specified?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
9 Inspect the value at the following PCM and TCM PIDs using the M-MDS.
(See PCM INSPECTION .)
(See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION .)
PCM PIDs: 
  • APP
  • ECT
  • RPM
  • MAF
  • VPWR

TCM PIDs: 
  • TFT
  • TFTV
  • TR
  • TR SENS
  • MNLSW
  • DWNSW
  • UPSW
  • THOP
  • TSS
  • OSS
  • VPWR

Are the PID values normal?
Yes Perform the symptom troubleshooting and follow the procedures.
No Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
