Evaporative Emissions Canister Removal / Installation
WARNING:
- The evaporative emission (EVAP) system contains fuel vapor and condensed fuel vapor. Although not present in large quantities, it still presents the danger of explosion or fire. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery to minimize the possibility of an electrical spark occurring, possibly causing a fire or explosion if fuel vapor or liquid fuel is present in the area. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See Lifting .
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. See Battery Disconnect .
- Remove the spare tire.
- Disconnect the rear fuel tank vapor lube and fuel tank pressure sensor assembly-to-EVAP canister quick connect coupling.
- Disconnect the EVAP canister vent solenoid electrical connector.
- Remove the EVAP canister and bracket assembly bolts.
Tightening Torque 14 Nm {1.4 kgf-m, 10 ft-lbf}
- Remove the EVAP canister and bracket assembly.
- Disconnect the EVAP canister vent solenoid-to-dust separator hose from the EVAP canister vent solenoid.
- Remove the EVAP canister vent solenoid from the EVAP canister.
- Remove the EVAP canister from the bracket.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
