Normal Operation

When the multifunction switch is in the RH TURN position, voltage is sent from the multifunction switch to the instrument cluster through circuit (GY/Y), and the RH turn signal indicator flashes on and off. The instrument cluster provides the bulb ground through circuit (B/Y).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

PINPOINT TEST 13 THE RH TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR IS NEVER ON
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK THE RH TURN SIGNAL OPERATION
  • Key in ON position.
  • Operate the RH turn signal.
  • Does the RH turn signal operate? 
Yes Go to next step.
No See TURN SIGNAL AND HAZARD LAMPS to continue diagnosis of the turn signals.
2 CHECK CIRCUIT (GY/Y) FOR VOLTAGE
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Instrument Cluster connector 0922-102.
  • Key in ON position.
  • Place the multifunction switch in the RH turn signal position.
  • Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster 0922-102 pin 13, circuit (GY/Y), harness side and ground.
  • Does the voltage vary from 0 to greater than 10 volts? 
Yes Go to next step.
No REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
3 CHECK THE GROUND TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster 0922-102 pin 1, circuit (B/Y), harness side and ground.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
Yes Go to next step.
No REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
4 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
  • Disconnect all the instrument cluster connectors.
  • Check for:
    • corrosion
    • damaged pins
    • pushed-out pins
    • incorrectly installed bulb sockets
    • burnt-out bulbs
  • Connect all the instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present? 
Yes INSTALL a new instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . TEST the system for normal operation.
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
