Solenoid Mechanical Failure 5R44E And 5R55E Only

NOTE:
  • Repair all other DTCs before repairing the following DTCs: P1714, P1715, P1716, P1717, P1740.
DTC P1714, P1715, P1716, P1717, P1740 DETECTION CONDITION AND POSSIBLE CAUSE

DTC P1714, P1715, P1716, P1717, P1740 SOLENOID MECHANICAL FAILURE 5R44E AND 5R55E ONLY
DETECTION CONDITION
  • P1714 indicates SS1 malfunction.
  • P1715 indicates SS2 malfunction.
  • P1716 indicates SS3 malfunction.
  • P1717 indicates SS4 malfunction.
  • P1740 indicates TCC malfunction.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
  • Damaged shift solenoid.
  • Damaged PCM.
HINT Shift solenoid description 
  • Two-way, normally open style.
  • Provide gear selection by controlling the pressure to the shift valves.
  • SS4 is also used to apply and release the coast clutch.
DTC P1714, P1715, P1716, P1717, P1740 DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

DTC P1734, P1715, P1716, P1717, P1740 SOLENOID MECHANICAL FAILURE 5R44E AND 5R55E ONLY
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1
  • Was PCM Quick Test performed? 
Yes Go to step 2.
No Perform PCM Quick Test. See PCM QUICK TEST .
2 ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSIS
  • Are other DTCs present for TFT or shift solenoids? 
Yes Repair the DTCs for TFT or shift solenoids first.
No Go to step 3.
3 TRANSMISSION DRIVE CYCLE TEST
  • Perform transmission drive cycle test. See Transmission Drive Cycle Test. See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DIAGNOSIS , .
  • Does the vehicle upshift and downshift OK? 
Yes Go to step 4.
No See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION , to diagnose shift concerns.
4 VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTCs COMPLETED
  • Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
  • Clear DTCs from PCM memory using WDS or equivalent tester generic OBD-II function.
  • Perform PCM Quick Test.
  • Is same DTC present? 
Yes Replace PCM and repeat PCM Quick Test.
No If any other DTC is present, go to applicable DTC inspection.
If no DTC is present, troubleshooting complete.
