Pilot Bearing: Testing and Inspection

PILOT BEARING INSPECTION

Caution:
^ The pilot bearing is a sealed bearing and must not be immersed in any type of cleaning fluid.


1. Inspect the transmission input shaft pilot bearing for:
^ misalignment and looseness in the flywheel.
^ needle rollers for scoring, worn or broken needle rollers, inadequate grease or discoloration.
^ seal leakage.
^ Install a new pilot bearing if any of these conditions are present.
