Possible Causes

CAUTION:
  • Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multimeter probes.
DTC B1485 - BRAKE PEDAL INPUT CIRCUIT BATTERY SHORT - PINPOINT TEST REFERENCE

PINPOINT TEST 6 DTC B1485 - BRAKE PEDAL INPUT CIRCUIT BATTERY SHORT
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 CHECK CIRCUIT (BR/G) FOR VOLTAGE
  • Key OFF.
  • Disconnect: ABS control module connector.
  • Key ON.
  • Measure the voltage between ABS module circuit (BR/G), harness side and ground while applying and releasing the brake pedal.
  • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts with the brake pedal applied and 0 volt with the brake pedal released? 
Yes Go to step 5.
No Go to next step.
2 CHECK ABS MODULE BRAKE PEDAL PID
  • Key OFF.
  • Connect: IDS or equivalent tester.
  • Key ON.
  • Using the IDS or equivalent tester, monitor the ABS module brake pedal position (BPP) switch PID.
  • Does the PID read active with the brake pedal released and read inactive with the brake pedal applied? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Go to step 5.
3 CHECK THE BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID
  • Key OFF.
  • Disconnect: Brake shift interlock solenoid.
  • Key ON.
  • Using the IDS or equivalent tester, monitor the ABS module BPP switch PID.
  • Does the PID read active with the brake pedal released? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Install a new brake shift interlock. See SHIFT LOCK ACTUATOR REMOVAL / INSTALLATION . Clear the DTCs. Carry out the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
4 CHECK CIRCUIT (BR/G) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
  • Key OFF.
  • Disconnect: Brake pedal position (BPP) switch connector.
  • Key ON.
  • Using the IDS or equivalent tester, monitor the ABS module BPP switch PID.
  • Does the PID read active? 
Yes Repair circuit (BR/G) for a short to voltage. Clear the DTCs. Carry out the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
No Install a new BPP switch. See STOPLAMP SWITCH . Clear the DTCs. Carry out the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
5 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
  • Disconnect all ABS connector.
  • Check for:
    • corrosion.
    • pushed-out pins.
    • spread terminals.
  • Connect all ABS connector and make sure it is seated correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present by CARRYING OUT the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
  • Is the concern still present? 
Yes Install a new ABS module. see ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE . Test the system for normal operation.
No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. Clear the DTCs. Carry out the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
