Installation Note

  1. Install the new solenoid(s).
    1. TCC
    2. SS4/CCS
    3. SS2
    4. EPC
    5. SS3
    6. SS1

    CAUTION:
    • The solenoid clamp must be installed in the TCC and EPC solenoid grooves, shift solenoid pockets and the No. 204 plug.
  2. Install the solenoid clamp.
    1. Position the solenoid clamp on the main control valve body.
    2. Install the solenoid clamp bolts.

  3. Connect the six solenoid electrical connectors.
    1. Connect shift solenoid electrical connectors.
    2. Connect the TCC solenoid electrical connector.
    3. Connect the EPC solenoid electrical connector.

    CAUTION:
    • Excessive pressure may break the retaining pins.
  4. Install the main control valve body wire loom.

    • Align the retaining pins to the holes in the solenoid clamps and gently press in the main control valve body wire loom guide and protector.
  5. Install the oil strainer
    1. Install the oil strainer.
    2. Install the bolt.

  6. Position a new gasket on the oil pan.

  7. Align and install the oil pan.
    1. Loosely install the 18 oil pan bolts.

    NOTE:
    • Use a crisscross sequence to tighten the transmission oil pan bolts.
  8. Tighten the bolts.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
    NOTE:
    • When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms can occur while the vehicle re-learns its adaptive strategy. The customer needs to be notified that they may experience slightly different upshifts either soft or firm and this is a temporary condition and will eventually return to normal operating condition.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
  11. Fill the transmission to the proper fluid level and check for proper transmission operation. See AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PRELIMINARY INSPECTION , .
