Intermediate Band

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See LIFTING .
  2. Remove the shift cable.
    1. Disconnect the shift cable from the manual control lever.
    2. Remove the shift cable from the bracket.

  3. Remove the digital transmission range (TR) sensor. See DIGITAL TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR REMOVAL / INSTALLATION , .
    CAUTION:
    • Do not allow intermediate band adjustment screw to back out. Band strut could fall out of position.

    Throw the locknut away. The locknut is not reusable for assembly. 

  4. Remove and discard the intermediate band locknut.

    NOTE:
    • The wrench will click at the specified torque.
  5. Tighten intermediate band adjustment screw and back off intermediate band adjustment screw exactly two and one-half (2 1/2) turns and hold that position.

    CAUTION:
    • Install, but do not tighten, a new locknut on the band adjustment screw. Apply petroleum jelly to the locknut seal.

    The intermediate servo must be installed prior to band adjustment. 

  6. While holding the intermediate band adjustment screw stationary, tighten the intermediate band locknut using a 19 mm wrench.

  7. Install shift cable.
    • Install the shift cable.
    • Install the shift cable to the manual control lever.
  8. Lower vehicle.
