B2300, B3000, B4000, MPV & Tribute

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2003 Mazda Tribute, 2003 Mazda Protege5, 2003 Mazda Protege, 2003 Mazda MX-5 Miata, and 2003 Mazda MPV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Throttle body bore and plate area have a special coating and should not be cleaned.

Idle speed is controlled by PCM and is not adjustable. If engine idle concerns are present, check for contaminated fuel, vacuum leaks and incorrect ignition timing. Ensure throttle bore, EGR system and PCV system are clean. If these are okay, check PCM for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article. If no DTCs are present, go to TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
