Valve Cover - (RH) Removal / Installation - 3.0L: Removal

- Disconnect the battery. See BATTERY DISCONNECT .
- Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector.
CAUTION:
- Do not pull on the spark plug wire as it may separate from the spark plug wire connector inside the spark plug boot.
- Disconnect the spark plug wires from the ignition coil by twisting while pulling upward.
- Disconnect the heater hose support from the stud.
- Disconnect the spark plug wire holders.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose.
- Disconnect the engine control wire harness from the valve cover studs.
- Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube.
NOTE:
- To prevent stretching the valve cover gasket, loosen silicone gasket and sealant from the cylinder head by sliding a flat knife between the valve cover gasket and cylinder head.
- Remove the eight bolts and remove the valve cover.
- Remove and discard the valve cover gasket, if required.
CAUTION:
- Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges, which mane leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of old sealant.
NOTE:- To clean the sealing area, use silicone gasket remover and metal surface prep. Observe all warnings and cautions and follow all application directions contained on the packaging for the silicone gasket remover and metal surface prep.
- Clean the RH valve cover gasket mating surfaces.
