Installation Note
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Mazda B2300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
- Do not tighten the exhaust system fasteners until all components are assembled and aligned, making sure to tighten all fasteners beginning at the front of the vehicle.
CAUTION:
- Do not use oil or grease-based lubricants on the isolators. These lubricants may cause deterioration of the rubber. This can lead to separation of the isolator from the exhaust hanger bracket during vehicle operation.
NOTE:
- Clean the mating surface of the exhaust manifold outlet flare and the exhaust down pipe inlet flare. Make sure not to damage the exhaust manifold outlet flare or the studs.
NOTE:
- Clean the mating surface of the exhaust down-pipe or the catalytic converter and the muffler and tailpipe assembly. Make sure not to damage the exhaust down pipe or the catalytic converter and the muffler and tailpipe assembly mating surfaces.
NOTE:
- Make sure to apply anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the sensors before installation.
- If removed, install the HO2S and catalyst monitor sensor.
Tightening torque:
41 Nm (4.2 kgf-m, 30 ft-lbf}
NOTE:- Use caution when installing the exhaust downpipe. Make sure not to damage the exhaust manifold outlet flare, the exhaust downpipe inlet flare, the exhaust downpipe and muffler and tailpipe mating surfaces or the exhaust manifold studs.
- Position the exhaust downpipe into the vehicle and install the transmission mount and isolator-to-transmission bolt.
Tightening torque:
90 Nm {9.2 kgf-m, 66 ft-lbf}
- Loosely install the exhaust manifold-to-exhaust downpipe nuts.
- Align the exhaust system.
Tightening torque
40 Nm {4.1 kgf-m, 30 ft-lbf}
- Connect the HO2S and catalyst monitor sensor electrical connectors.
