Engine and Radiator Flushing

WARNING:
  • Do not open the cooling system while it is hot or while the engine is running. Failure to follow these Instructions may cause personal injury.
  1. Drain the cooling system. See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT - 3.0L  .
  2. Remove the thermostat. See THERMOSTAT REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - 3.0L  .
  3. Install the thermostat housing without the thermostat.
    NOTE:
    • See the cooling system flusher manufacturer's operating instructions for specific vehicle hook-up. Use an appropriate cooling system flusher to flush the engine and radiator.
  4. Flush the cooling system. Use premium cooling system flush VC-1.
  5. Install the thermostat. See THERMOSTAT REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - 3.0L  .
  6. Back flush the heater core.
  7. Fill the cooling system. See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT - 3.0L  .
