Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mazda B4000, 2002 Mazda B3000, and 2002 Mazda B2300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Using Radio Removing Tool (415-001/T87P-19061-A), pull out audio unit from instrument panel. Disconnect electrical connectors and remove audio unit.
  2. Remove 2 screws and pull out center instrument panel finish panel assembly and disconnect electrical connectors. Remove screw, disconnect 4 electrical connectors and remove GEM from vehicle.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Activate air bag system. Check AIR BAG warning light to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
