- Check and repair or replace any faulty parts. Inspect piston check balls for leakage and sticking. Ensure all drum air passages are clear. Check for worn snap rings.
- Measure drive plates facing thickness in 3 places. Calculate average value. If thickness is less than specified, replace drive plates.DRIVE PLATES THICKNESS
Drive Plate Part Number Standard Value - In. (mm) Minimum Value - In. (mm) FN11 19 370 0.063 (1.60) 0.057 (1.45) FNE1 19 370 0.100 (2.55) 0.094 (2.40) - Measure spring free length. Inspect spring for deformation. Standard spring free length is 0.677" (17.2 mm). If free length is less than minimum, 0.598" (15.2 mm), replace spring and retainer assembly. See TRANSAXLE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Ensure air flow is present when applying air pressure through 3-4 clutch drum fluid passage. Maximum air pressure is 57 psi (4.0 kg/cm2 ). Replace 3-4 clutch drum if damaged or malfunctioning.
- Ensure air flow is present when applying air pressure through 2-4 brake drum fluid passage. Maximum air pressure is 57 psi (4.0 kg/cm2 ). Replace 2-4 brake drum if damaged or malfunctioning.
- Measure inside diameter of rear sun gear plate bushing. Standard bushing inner diameter is 1.17717-1.17799" (29.900-29.921 mm). Maximum bushing inner diameter is 1.17878" (29.941 mm). See TRANSAXLE SPECIFICATIONS . Replace rear sun gear plate if bushing diameter is not within specification or if bushing is scored or damaged.
