Camshaft End Play Inspection

  1. Remove the valve tappets. Refer to ENGINE DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY .
  2. Use a suitable Dial Indicator With Bracketry to measure the camshaft end play.
  3. Position the camshaft to the rear of the cylinder block.
  4. Zero the Dial Indicator With Bracketry.
  5. Move the camshaft to the front of the cylinder block. Note and record the camshaft end play.
    1. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS . If the camshaft end play exceeds specification, replace the camshaft thrust plate. Refer to ENGINE DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY .
