Water Pump: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner duct. Drain cooling system. See DRAINING . Remove fan shroud and cooling fan assembly. Loosen water pump pulley retaining screws. Rotate drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove accessory drive belt. Remove water pump pulley. Disconnect generator wiring connectors.
  2. Disconnect crank position sensor wiring. Remove by-pass hose from intake manifold. Remove A/C compressor and support with wire.
  3. Remove generator bracket from cylinder head with generator attached as an assembly. Remove lower radiator and heater hose from water pump. Remove 12 water pump bolts. Remove water pump.
