Timing Chain Cover: Removal

- Remove negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. See DRAINING . Remove accessory drive belt. Remove left-handed nut retaining fan clutch. Remove cooling fan assembly. Remove cooling fan/water pump pulley. Remove A/C bracket, brace and compressor as an assembly, if equipped, and position aside.
- Remove generator adjusting arm and brace, and position generator aside. Remove crankshaft pulley. Using Crankshaft Damper Remover (T58P-6316-D), remove crankshaft damper. Remove hoses from water pump. Remove oil pan. See OIL PAN . Remove bolts retaining timing chain cover and water pump assembly to engine. See Fig 1. Remove timing chain cover and water pump as an assembly.
