Valve Tappet Removal / Installation - 4.0L

  1. Remove the valve covers. See VALVE COVER - RH REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - 4.0L , or VALVE COVER - LH REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - 4.0L , .
  2. Remove the fuel supply manifold. See FUEL INJECTION SUPPLY MANIFOLD AND FUEL INJECTOR - 4.0L REMOVAL / INSTALLATION , .

    NOTE:
    • Mark each camshaft roller follower to ensure its original position during reassembly.
  3. Using the valve spring compressor SST  , remove the camshaft roller followers.
    NOTE:
    • Lubricate the parts with clean engine oil prior to installing.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
