Engine Block Heater Removal / Installation - 4.0L

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See LIFTING .
  2. Drain the cooling system. See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT - 4.0L .
  3. Disconnect the connector.

  4. Remove the block heater.

    NOTE:
    • Do not loosen the screw more than necessary for removal.
    1. Loosen the screw.
    2. Twist and slide the block heater to release the retainer clip and discard the retainer clip.
    3. Remove the block heater.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
