Valve Tappet Removal / Installation - 2.3L

  1. Remove the camshafts. See CAMSHAFTS REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - 2.3L .

    CAUTION:
    • If the camshafts and valve tappets are to be reused, mark the location of the valve tappets to make sure that they are assembled in their original positions.
  2. Remove the valve tappets from the cylinder heads.
  3. Inspect the valve tappets.
    NOTE:
    • Make sure the valve tappets are installed in their original locations.
  4. Lubricate the valve tappets with clean engine oil and install the valve tappets to the cylinder heads.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
