Possible Causes
- Circuit (G) open, short to ground or voltage
- Charging system
- Generator
- Instrument cluster

- Use the correct probe adaptor(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adaptor(s) may damage the connector.

| 2 | CHECK CIRCUIT (G) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

Yes | Repair the circuit. Test the system for normal operation. |

| 3 | CHECK CIRCUIT (G) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

Yes | Go to step 6. |
| No | REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. | ||
| 4 | CHECK THE GENERATOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION

Yes | Install a new generator. See GENERATOR REMOVAL / INSTALLATION -- 2.3L , GENERATOR REMOVAL / INSTALLATION -- 3.0L or GENERATOR REMOVAL / INSTALLATION -- 4.0L . Test the system for normal operation. |

| No | REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. | ||
| 6 | CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION

Yes | Install a new instrument cluster. see INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . Test the system for normal operation. |
| No | The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. | ||
